It all began one snowy day in 1979 when we opened the shop...

R.P Setchfield Traditional Family Butchers first opened on a snowy day in 1979, it has been an independent, family run business ever since. We pride ourselves on our friendly, old fashioned shop keeping values,believing that ‘the customer comes first’, supplying only the very best local meat, poultry and our own famous homemade pies.


I founded Setchfield's Butchers in Roundhay, Leeds and over the last 40 years the business has developed into an established supplier to some of the finest restaurants, luxury motor yachts and hotels around Yorkshire. In 2011 I extended the business and acquired another shop in East Keswick Village where our master baker creates a delicious range of meat pies, fruit pies and savoury pasties, fresh everyday.


​Myself and my brother David work together. I am based at the Roundhay Butchers and David is the manager at the East Keswick Butchers. Both shops deliver exceptional service and maintain their enviable reputation, as well as many happy customers, in their own right!

Over the past 5 years, our business has developed and grown on the catering side. Our Hog Roasts and BBQ Events cover anything from birthdays, anniversaries, weddings and corporate events. We think the personal touch goes along way as we will set up in your own back garden, in a local village hall or wherever you want your special event to take place. 

Our passion has always been to use our expertise in supporting families to present good food at the table. Ever since we were little, watching our own Dad as a Butcher himself we were both inspired to follow in his footsteps. We like to think we did him proud!
